Hanging in there

We waited until about 3PM today for the chemo to start.  It takes so long for all the departments to coordinate things.  Twice someone came in to take Neal down to ultrasound for his arm.  There is nothing wrong with his arm.  Oops, wrong patient!  You have to be your own advocate in health care.  His first drug was gemcitabine followed by oxaliplatin (GemOx).  So far no major side affects but they will keep him overnight to make sure.  He does have some edema which is causing some discomfort.  He will loose his hair again.  I wonder how it will come back this time!  With the last drug he cannot drink anything cold, touch anything cold or be near anything cold for 3 days.  If he wants to get into the refrigerator he is suppose to wear long sleeves and wear gloves.  It will just be easier for him to ring his “service bell”!  Hope that maid is in a good mood!

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.  Bless the Lord. O my soul, and forget none of His benefits; who pardons all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from he pit, who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion, who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”  Psalm 103:1-5

Praying for healing,
Trish

  1. Praying with you!

You will avoid all things cold. I would wear rubber gloves to switch wet cloths from the washer to dryer. Now have forgotten those things. It is a great drug.

  2. Neal said that laundry won’t be an issue!
