Thank you to the many people praying on my behalf. I sense God’s peace that surpasses all understanding even though the outcome is not as I would have chosen. I keep reminding myself that God is sovereign and his way is perfect. I was disappointed when I woke up from surgery and realized that my stomach muscles didn’t hurt. That meant that the cancer had spread and they needed to delay reconstruction. I am still holding out for the “tummy tuck” reconstruction. The plastic surgeon was excited when he saw my “twin skin” because that meant he has more to work with! Thank you Britton and Grant!
My type of breast cancer is “invasive lobular” which means it started in the lobes and has gone beyond the cell walls. Surgery showed that 9 out of 21 lymph nodes had cancer. Instead of 2 small areas of cancer in my left breast there was one large tumor 6.5 cm (2 1/2″). There were other areas of cancer in that breast. My right breast didn’t show cancer but pre-cancerous cells, which meant it was the right call to have that breast removed as well. Put that all together, I have stage 3 cancer. Join us in praying that they got all the cancer during surgery.
I meet with the ongologist on June 9 to find out what treatment I will have. In the mean time I am taking it easy at home and being pampered by friends. Vicoden helps with the pain. Under my left arm is especially sore due to taking the lymph nodes. A visiting nurse comes every day to change my dressings and check on my drainage tubes.
“Call unto me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you don’t even know.”
On the journey,
Trish
Trish, as we were getting into Colorado last night we received and update letting us know about the lymph nodes. I am so sorry. The news made me very sad and frusturated for you and your family. As we drove, the mountains popped up before us and I was reminded of Gods power and that everything is in His hands. When we are here, we feel closer to Him and will continue to pray for your recovery and the doctors as they help to guide you through this, we love you!
trish, wanted you to know that i am not just a lurker but will be praying for you and your family. i cannot imagine all that you must be feeling! for now i am praying God’s quick healing from surgery and for wisdom as you move forward.

Hey, cousin Trish, we are all continuing to pray for you here in Wisconsin. In the midst of the trials, soreness, and continued questions, I pray God will surprise you with His grace at various unexpected moments each day.

Hi Trish and Neal,
Asked Michelle if there was any way we could help or show support and she suggested a note on your blog. We will continue to check in here and look for updates-appreciate you taking time to keep people who care in the loop. It might sound like the usual response, but we are interceding for you regularly and will continue to ask for His healing, mercy and peace as you go through this process. With wishes for a speedy recovery,
Michael and family
You are welcome for the twin skin!
This one hit me this week. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
Trish, as I overlook our property in Mazatlan, I am always reminded of the Majesty, Power, sovereignty and beauty of our God. I am struck with the love He has for each of us and how He loves to hold us. We are praying for you… I am reminded much of you here, so you are getting lots of prayer! Abby and Alec send their love.
