The electrician who wired our house when it was built 21 years ago.came today to see about the water situation. He remembered right away that the well pump was wired to a seperate electrical box for our generator so if we are without power the generator would power up a few things including the well pump. Someone had turned off the beaker for the well pump on that box. Easy enough to fix, turn back on the switch, unhook the make shift wire and put the top back on the well pump. What’s this? On putting back the main box the electrician noticed two of the main wires were melted. There was an additional wire fed into the box that he had not placed. We went on a hunt to see what it was for. It was attached to a box out in the garage that probably my grandfather and Neal had put together when they did some of the outside lights several years ago. The wires melted the lug nuts so they could not be moved to change new wires. The wires had melted the plate which is the only thing that seperates to the main power. Jerry said this was a fire waiting to happen or it could have blown up!
Before they tried to fix anything, Jerry wanted to fire up the generator so they would have a light to work with. In doing so he noticed that the plug from the wall did not fit into the plug on the generator. The electricians left to get parts for the generator and electrical box. When they arrived, Jerry and his brother tried to fix the existing box but it couldn’t be saved. So they will be back on Monday to put in a new electrical box.
I praise God for the well pump problem because without it we would have never found out about the fire hazard waiting to happen with the electrical box and the problem with the generator plug. God’s Word tells us that every detail of our life God works into something good.
On the journey,
Trish
