Welcome home Trish. After her outpatient visit that turned into an overnight stay with more pain and nausea than the first visit combined. The plastic surgeon said it went well but she had a longer time in recovery. There was a little bit more skin removed that was also sent for pathology report – just for information, no real impact on treatment.
We are realizing but hoping against the chance that this may be a harbinger of the next few months of chemo. It was supposed to be an easier surgery but not being so was disappointing. There truly is a big mental component to this as well.
After we gather diagnostic info this week, we meet Monday for a consultation at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago to then determine the course of treatment. We are pleased that our oncologist, Dr. Lester, is involved with research as well.
Thanks to all of you who have sent cards and e mails to brighten Trish’s day. They are very encouraging as well as the beautiful flowers. Each time we look at cards or flowers, we remember that we are prayed for and cared about. The meals have been great as well.
We have heard that people from all corners are praying. We are learning that prayer in powerful for those being prayed for but also for those who pray. How does God use this situation to drive us to pray and thereby change us? What are we to learn through prayer? I don’t know the answer entirely yet. We get to spend time with God more intimately, allow him to talk to us, shape us, impress upon our hearts that which is important. It will make an interesting message some day.
Whitney is coming home tonight to spend a few days as we plan for Grant and Jenni’s family baby shower on Saturday. We will celebrate for sure!
