Sorry for the delay….

Neal had done a previous post and we just realized a couple of days ago that it did not post. So here goes…..

To all who are supporting our family,
Thanks for your continued prayers! I had my half way ( after 3 rounds of chemo) of treatment PET scan. The PET scan shows very good results. The largest lymph node is measured and tracked. It has gone from the size of a small orange to the size of a walnut. That is the right trend to see. After seeing the PET scan, I then completed the fourth of six planned chemotherapy treatments and the numbers continue to look good – red blood cells, white blood cells. I am a bit tired in the evening in the first week and then my energy level steadily increases over the next two. Trish and I continue to walk 3 miles most mornings at 6 a.m. As our friend Linda shared with us, exercise is a critical component of recovery.
At this point I have lost no more hair – have quite a bit of stubborn gray hair that stuck around on top. Still have eyebrows and eyelashes and shave daily.
We celebrated our grandson Lane’s birthday this weekend as well as a shower for Michelle and Britton and their October son coming soon. On top of that we got to take the kids to Holland Sunday to hear Britton speak. Whitney was home as well for a break as she has been teaching her new crop of second graders for 2 weeks now. Karsten takes of for Taylor U. on Friday. So much to be thankful for!
I am continually having it impressed upon me the opportunities that illness affords me to share the Peace of God. People who may not have heard the good news of Jesus now engage me on my journey. I have to realize that each encounter with people, whether you are ill or through out every day interaction is an opportunity to share the hope.

On the journey,
Neal

  1. Hey Trish and Neal, I was commenting on Linda Wood’s Blog ( a friend of mine from work) and saw your name. Small world! Just to let you know I am praying for you. Maybe I’ll see you at Homecoming!
