Port and chemo

Yesterday I had my port placed. I was apprehensive since I had a hard time after my last surgery. But God is good. I got the anesthetist that I had for my first surgery. He explained that he gives a bag of anti-nausea medicine at the beginning and some doctors don’t. The nurse was also having a difficult time drawing my blood, so the anesthetist said he would draw it when I was under. Yeah!

Dr. Winslow, my surgeon, agreed to leave the IV needle in after surgery so they could use it for chemo. Otherwise, that area would be tender to poke. Another thank you God.

I came out of surgery with no difficulties. Thank you God.

Today I was to have chemo at 9:30. When we arrived at the building it was dark. They had no power. After waiting until they decided what to do, the nurse took my vitals and I saw the PA for my exam. She said power was suppose to come on around 12:30/1:00. They would call me.

My friend and I decided to go across the street for a pedicure! It was a nice treat for my first day of chemo. Thank you God. Just as we were finishing up, the doctor’s office called and power was on!

I started my drips at 12:00 and finished by 2:00. It’s about 4:00 now-so far so good. I am tired and feel a little queezy but they gave me meds for that. Thank you God.

Another friend had sent along a big bag of goodies for me to open during chemo. They had notes attached and verses. It was very sweet and thoughtful. Thank you God.

I’ll keep you posted on how I fare.

  1. God is good! Thank you for updating us as you go through this. It really helps us to direct our prayers for you.

I find it amazing how much the story from Daniel has surfaced for you recently. God definitely has a message for you there.
Lots of love! The Spaulding Family

  2. I should have told you to tell the anesthetist to give you the works! With all my surgeries I would tell them that and never had any nausea issues… Did you have an anesthetist that wears a bandana??? I can’t remember his name… I always requested him ! HA! Glad it all went well!
