Neal is glad to be home, sleep in his own bed and eat food when he feels like it. A nurse comes in the morning when his TPN is finished and hangs his bag of antibiotic. Neal will do that himself from now on. A nurse will come again tonight and make sure we know how to hook up his TPN. That bag is attached to a small monitor and can lay anywhere while he sleeps. It last for about 14 hours.
It will take awhile for Neal’s energy to come back. I’ve been back and forth to the pharmacy 4 times in the past 2 days. We have developed a friendly relationship with Jenny, our pharmacist! Because Neal is on prednisone it raises his sugar. He has to test his sugar 4 times a day and give himself insulin if needed. Some insulin also goes into his TPN.
Karsten said a few minutes ago that a slushie sounded good from Speedway. (It’s so hot here today–almost 100). Neal chimed in that it sounded good to him. The boys ran right away to get them. If something sounds good to Neal I try to get it right away because his taste buds change all the time. Well, the slushie didn’t taste as good as he thought! 🙁
We go to the doctor tomorrow afternoon. Update then.
On the journey,
Trish
So glad to hear that Neal is home so that you can all love on him and wait on him and so you don’t have to use your physical energy for driving back and forth and wondering how he is without you. 🙂
We think of you and pray for each of you daily rejoicing in each step you take and beseeching God for calm and peace–I remember once when Neal wrote about the disciples in the boat in the stormy sea–we praise God that you know and praise Him for being in this ‘boat’ with you.
Much love, Aunt Gene and Uncle Keith
