Mother’s Day and Neal’s Birthday

Here are 12 reasons why I love being a mother:

Ty, Karsten, Britton, Collin, Grant
Me, Whitney, Michelle, Jenni
Eli, Caleb, Corbin, Lane

Yesterday was Neal’s birthday and Thursday was Dale’s birthday.  We had a nice family dinner at my house last night with Britton and his family, Karl and his family, Bobbie and Joan, really to celebrate Mother’s Day.

After everyone left last night I was feeling quite sad and had a good cry.  Not only am I missing Neal but he is the reason I am a mother. I didn’t feel like I could bring myself to go to church this morning and hear a teaching about Mother’s Day so I stayed home and went for a looong walk (12 miles).  Part of the walk was up to a restaurant to meet Bobbie, Joan and Karl’s family for lunch, then Joan, Jamie and I walked a few miles and I walked home.  I am training to do a Susan G Komen 3 day walk–60 miles in August.

Collin has also been home sick this week with mono.  He was not getting better so the doctor put him on a stronger Tylenol and steroids.  He is doing better today and thinks he can go out and about. 🙁  We had cancelled his orientation for Grand Valley University tomorrow but we are planning to go and hopefully they still have his spot.  It would be too hard for him to miss more school and work to go another day.  He graduates in just 3 weeks from today so he feeling the crunch to get everything done.

Happy birthday Neal!

On the journey,
Trish
