Today I am thanking God for a husband who loved God, loved me and his family, was intelligent, funny, had a positive attitude about life, loved to help people, and was a great father to our five children. I was blessed to have been married to Neal for 32 years.
Since Neal’s death, I have of course been thinking and reading more about heaven. One verse i came across is Revelation 19:7 that says, “Let us rejoice And be glad and give Him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” The Bible refers to Christ as the Bridegroom and those of us who have chosen to follow God’s ways are his bride. When Christ returns to set up the New Heaven and New Earth is when this wedding will take place. I had not thought about this idea of being married to Christ while I was married to Neal but now I do. How am I making myself ready? What am I doing that matters for God’s kingdom?
Yes, I’ve lost the dream of growing old with Neal, but I’ve gained so much more. These are just a few I thought of tonight:
1) a deeper love for God
2) a heightened awareness of hurting people
3) the awareness that I am not alone
4) less “stuff” to worry about since I am doing a lot of purging
5) more free time to just “be”
God is birthing a new dream in me and that makes me smile!
On the journey,
Trish
