Foundations

Britton came the other day to help me put up some bunk beds (well, actually he put them together and I held them in place.)  Since the little boys are getting bigger we need more big boy beds!  I have a room over the garage we fondly refer to as the “playroom” that houses the toys and now two sets of bunk beds.  It had been a catch all room but I’m organizing and purging things.

When Britton and I were working on the beds I noticed the south wall is cracked where the ceiling and wall meet.  I think the house has shifted, probably when the trees have fallen on the roof!

I thought of the story in the Bible of the wise man who built his house upon the rock and the foolish man who built his house upon the sand.  When the storms came the house that was built on the strong foundation stood. (Matthew 7:24-27)  Doesn’t it make sense to build the foundation of our life on something solid?  God is called our rock, our stronghold (Psalm 18:2).  If we build our foundation on anything besides God, it will be destroyed or crumble when hard times come in our life.

Thank you God that You are my rock, my stronghold.

On the journey,
Trish
