Welcome Eli Taylor Smith!

Eli Taylor Smith was born September 22 at 11AM weighing in at 6.2lbs, 18.5 inches long! Michelle was hooked up to ptosin all day Tuesday with not much activity. They lowered her dose Tuesday night so she could get a good night sleep. Wednesday morning when the doctor came to check things out Michelle had made no progress and the little guy had flipped himself around so he wasn’t head down anymore. After talking through the options a c-section was scheduled for 10AM. Eli and mom are doing well. Eli is in the critical care nursery to help him regulate his blood sugar and help him eat. His sucking reflex needs to develop more so they are feeding him through a tube for a short time. I was able to get up to Holland around noon and Neal and Collin joined me in the evening. 🙂 What a wonder new life is and a blessing to be grandparents again. Its an incredible privelege.

Another blessing is that Karl had a follow-up appointment at Northwestern University today to get his pathology report. His tumor is benign and he needs no further treatment! Praise God!! He will have MRI’s every 3 months this year to monitor him.

Our kids will be home this weekend to celebrate birthdays, pick apples and now also to see baby Eli! I love it when all the kids are home!! We will all go up to visit Britton, Michelle and Eli.

On the journey,
Trish

  1. Congrats!! 🙂 What a CUTE grandson! You look great, too!

  2. Congratulations on another grandson! Truly new life is such a blessing from the Lord. We do need to get together and compare blessings, chemo treatments, and well-being.

  3. Just let us know when you get to New Buffalo again. We’d love to get together.
