I had a CT scan last Thursday and then yesterday we met with the MD to discuss the findings. The tumor that had radiation had shrunk over 80% and is much less active! Almost near normal readings. There also were no other new tumors visible. Hurray! They also said the tumor was unusual in a good way in that it is only in one spot.
I had already told them I didn’t want to be a white paper or chapter in a book – just a regular lymphoma but noooooooo, I had to be unusual. For those who know me, that is no surprise. We now move on to the scheduled DLI – donor lymphocyte infusion. t lymphocytes are given via i.v. to attack any remaining lymphoma cells floating around. I will do a couple of those to see how it works. The risk is that they could attack my liver but a lower risk because these are also Karl’s donated cells which I already have. It will happen over the next few weeks. More unknowns, more dependency on God.
I must say it has felt great to feel great the past few weeks. I have felt quite normal and encouraged seeing the tumor consistently shrinking. My energy level is returning and my ability to take on more complex problems (like tying my shoes 🙂 ). I continue to search for opportunities and direction God has for me. It would be so much easier if it were a neon sign or an e mail. Day by day. Hard for planners like me an Trish. Yet Jesus prayed “give us this day our daily bread”. Enough for today, not a whole loaf that will last for week. The Israelites had the same challenge as they wandered the wilderness and had manna daily – if they kept it longer than one day (other than Sabbath) it would not be edible. We all wander like they do, following God where he leads us. Yet for a purpose. God gives us enough each day. He will do the same for you if you ask Him.
Blessings,
Neal
Jim and Pearl are learning a lot from you two! We agree: ” Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof “. We love you.
