"Look Good…Feel Better"

Last night a friend and I had went to a program called “Look Good… Feel Better” for women chemo patients sponsored by The American Cancer Society and the Personal Care Products Council. Each of us cancer patients recived a bag of cosmetic products totaling about $300-$350 from companies like Channel, Lancome, Aveda, etc. We were taught how to apply make-up. The penciling eye brows on after mine fall out will be weird. That seems like something my old grandmother would do! We talked about skin care and nail care during chemo. Then we tried on wigs. Oh boy–they looked like dead cats on my head! My head is so small that they just weren’t working for me. The lady really tried to get me take one home but I politely said no thanks! We were shown how to tie head wraps in various styles. One unique on is cutting an old t-shirt off just below the arms. You place the tube on your head and twist it various ways to make the wrap and a band. I’ll have to do one and post a picture for you to see. Amazing what you can do! It was a lot of fun.

The program was such a blesssing to help cancer patients feel good about themselves, improve quality of life and self-image as we go down this journey.

On the journey,
Trish

PS As far as I know my white counts are okay. Keep praying they stay up!

  2. So glad that we have so much support in this area! I am glad you are taking advantage of it. You are one of those people who have beauty on the inside that comes out on the outside, hair or no hair. I am so proud of you, Trish. You are an inspiration to all of us!
